Farm Encounters | Harnessing Horses

New for 2025, Old Cowtown Museum is hosting Farm Encounters, a hands-on series supported by a Good Life Grant from the Wichita Wagonmasters!


Farm Encounters | Harnessing Horses on Saturday, May 24 at 2pm.

Harnessing Horses will teach the tips and tricks about how we use horses to comfortably and safely pull wagons and plows.

Participants will experience a guided exploration of the various equipment at Cowtown that is powered by horses and the history of different types harnessing methods. Cowtown’s Farm Manager will lead attendees through the harness shop, the carriage works, the blacksmith shop and the farm for a personal tour of the buildings, artifacts, and methods using horsepower 1870s Wichita.

Tickets are $15 per person and limited to 20 participants.
